Happy Halloween from Dr. Addie

"Can we get going already?!"

"Take two M&M's and call me in the morning."

She wasn't so sure about this whole thing at first... talking to lots of different people, them putting things in her bag, strange "creatures" running up and down the sidewalks, BUT she quickly learned the word candy and Miss Manners gladly said thank-you once she got the goods. We only visited 5 houses and then headed back to uphold our Halloween tradition of grilling out and sitting around the fire pit in the driveway with our neighbors. Lexi enjoyed being in charge of handing out candy and Addie just loves doing whatever Lexi is doing. We always seem to get a large number of trick-or-treaters and well into the night, so eventually we had to start rationing our handouts but those kids still hit the jackpot since it was four houses in one stop!

Daily Deals

There are more deal websites out there and I am always a bit skeptical about any bargain, but I made my first purchase on zulily this month. I bought both these adorable outfits and am very pleased with them. FYI though, they do not have the quickest turnaround time. The scrubs came right away which was fun because Addie wore them to her 2-year well visit - they were a huge hit! However, the pumpkin dress on the other hand didn't arrive for almost 4 weeks. It came the week of Halloween and I didn't realize it was "dry clean only", but we still manged to wear it 3 times!

Bonus: In addition to the parade at the pediatrician's office and Halloween, the scrubs also double as jammies and unless she eats too much turkey, you will see the pumpkin dress again for Thanksgiving.

Happy Birthday Daddy!

Surprised Jim with an early birthday present two weeks ago... tickets for all three of us to the VT/Wake Forest game. We headed up after lunch with our friends, The Caseys. First part of the plan worked great, the kids napped the whole drive up to Winston. Then they had fun playing chase, with chalk, each others toys and of course snacking at the tailgate.

The second part of the plan was that she would stay awake from the exciting game or fall asleep in my lap (we traded for lawn seats by the way) and then sleep on the drive back. She never even got that chance, because about 5 minutes into the game she threw up. Probably because we were in denial and wanted to watch the game, we cleaned it up and stayed put. She quickly let us know that was not going to work by preceding to get sick 2 more times all over us both. We quickly headed back to our car, changed clothes and started driving. She must have gotten sick 6 more times before we got home. I tried to catch it all while Jim was on the phone with the pediatrician's office. It ended up being a 24-hr thing and she is fine but, OH the joys of parenting! Happy Birthday Jim... we owe you another game!

Pretty obvious (now) that she wasn't feeling well.

Dear Addie

Two years ago my life was forever changed!

You were a mommy's girl from the beginning and you clung tight until the end. Sorry to have kicked you out but your entire family was ready to love on you, especially ME. Today you drive me crazy at times with your "hold you" pleas but I couldn't imagine and wouldn't want it any other way. We will always be a pair.

Even then, you had a strong will and wanted to do things on your own terms. That and your cautiousness are traits I hope serve you well as you grow up and discover your way in this world.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY PRECIOUS GIRL - I LOVE YOU!

New To Me

After all the hours of furniture shopping already put it, I finally discovered Griffith Street in Southend. One Sunday afternoon I managed to wander through 3 warehouses, and so far it seems to fall at a nice place in-between high priced costume designs, out of a box retail store and Jim's least favorite antiques. I felt like this is where someone from HGTV or DIY would shop. The Pick-it, where I found my new media cabinet did require some digging. There were items I thought were junk but I am sure a creative show host/designer would see the perfect place for everything. This media cabinet didn't take a tremendous amount of vision just a little love and attention. (Sorry I deleted the picture just as I found it.)

Cleaning & changing out the door panels

"Final" result

Next project: To find the right baskets to help hold and organize everything I plan to hide inside; (Addie's DVDs, remotes, Wii games, etc.) I also am on the look out for chic yet toddler-proof decor for the top. Ha!

Sand Therapy

The annual Moore Family Beach Trip was a bit later this year but the weather was still wonderful and once again we had a fantastic time. Addie is still very much a pool-gal but we managed to get time on the beach as well. We actually wasted no time and headed directly there after unloading all our stuff in the condo.

Notice the bare feet (but also the deep concern on her face).

The next day I tried rain boots... to hopefully walk on the sand without any touching her feet.

She did sit on daddy, but was very careful not to touch the ground.

Eventually graduated to sitting on a yoga mat and digging.

Oceanwatch

It is my own fault for forgetting my camera this trip but been waiting to snag some pictures to post. In addition to some sand therapy we...

Discovered the Kids Activity Center and made friends,

posed for and veto-ed a Christmas Card shot,

enjoyed several games of Bocce,

celebrated this cutie pie's second birthday,

had some cousin bonding, (AR thinks Addie is hilarious),

played golf, (it is Myrtle Beach after all),

and created lots of new memories!
