Hot Days, Cool Fun!

First trip to our Splash Park this summer! Amazingly enough, she didn't need me to get in there with her. (Crediting camp with growing her confidence.) Since she wasn't worried about staying right next to me, she was able to focus on enjoying herself. Even made a little friend and shared her cup with him. BIG GIRL!

Old Pro

We were not originally going to put her in camp this week but she missed it and her cute counselors missed her. {Collective, awwwww!} So here is a snap of the seasoned camper heading off for another exciting week. Last time the theme was Pirates & Mermaids. This time the theme is July 4th and she came home with an awesome wind sock today which is proudly displayed in the kitchen.

I hope she is in equally good spirits about returning to Soccer Shots on Wednesday. (Poor report from last week and certainly no pictures since I spent most of "practice" with our normally Lil' Pele, no Mia Hamm, wait I got it - Abby Wambach* wrapped around my leg. By the end of it she did give the coach a high five. I took this as a fantastic sign and so did he because we immediately caught each others eyes and gave a "victory" nod.

Saturday nights are meant for dinner and dancing!

We headed to Hickory Tavern for dinner and to our delight, a jazz trio set up outside. The weather was nice so I picked the restaurant for the outdoor seating... it overlooks The Greenway. Was not aware that the MetLive Concert Series was still going on but what a bonus! I will certainly be back!

Soccer Shots

No picture of her during practice because she spent most of it attached to my leg. It was an uphill battle to begin with but that doesn't mean I didn't try to get her to participate. Camp is fun but exhausting and she fell asleep on the way home today. First strike against us, I had to wake her from a nap to go. Then, we all know this one needs transition time and I rushed her over there because was trying to be on time which was the second mistake. Now she was already upset and since we were late I didn't have any prep time with her which was my third mistake. Not to mention this was an entirely new activity with someone she had never met.

By the end of it she did except the end of practice reward (a single Mike-and-Ike) and gave the coach a high five... which is really all I could have asked for! Then we followed the rest of the "team" to the playground where she was all smiles. At least we ended on a happy note!

Happy Father's Day

First request from him was sleep, obviously! (I did the same thing on my day.) So I got up with our early riser, fed her and Teva then took everyone out for a morning jog... including Minnie. This was the only way to actually ensure a quiet house and therefore any sleep. Also Jim had a soccer game in the afternoon so he would not have joined us anyway. As soon as we got home from the run though she went to say HAPPY'S FATHERS DAY! Here are a few pictures from our day - opening daddy's gift, playing in bed & "cheering" at daddy's soccer game.

I have been nagging a certain someone to post this on youtube so could put it here. She has since done this a million times but this is the very first day she came home with this chant.

Blue's Clues

Sometimes the best gifts are so simple! (Daddy found this on Etsy... where you can find almost anything you could ever want!) Just as we thought, this Blue's Clues fan was thrilled with her fun surprise and takes her Handy Dandy Notebook with her all over the place.

New Adventures!

Only one of us is actually attending summer day camp but that program starts 45mins earlier then preschool did which has been an adjustment for everyone! Jim has been later to work so he can help sunscreen Addie while I am not getting my same workouts in and clocking into work much earlier. :-)  It is all worth it though because SHE LOVES IT but even the Preschool Director has been thoroughly impressed by our little one! She really has been a whole new person. Willing to jump in, bonding with new kids & adults, flat out talking & hugging people and eating a ton! WHOA!

I plan to take full advantage of the registration fee deals going on TODAY! Signing the Mr. and I up for the Rock-n-Roll Half in Savannah. Grammy & VoVo, this is the heads up that Addie would love to come stay with you that weekend (wink wink) but more importantly it marks Jim's return to racing! :-) I am easily more excited then he is about his participating. Also eyeing the Bull City Race Fest and looking to coax Auntie M & Lane into joining as well.

Time to get back into posting...

I take pictures of this little once constantly so here are ones from yesterday. First thing to share, she is wearing pants! I commend the break thru but not the timing - I do not really have anything but dresses for her to wear and it is summer now.

Second, she loves her YMCA name tag and wears it there every day. The Branch Resource Director rigged her up a new one when I forget hers today (bad mommy!). Third, afternoons are always tough for us. I struggle with the balance of household errands and engaging Addie but also understanding she is tired. With that our afternoon entertainment yesterday was a late lunch at "my" Chick-fil-A and summer sandal shopping at Kixx. Yummy Chick-fil-A is never a bad idea but it turned out to be a fantastic one! 10% of our purchase went to support A Child's Place and we met a real live princess, aka Miss Outstanding Teen.

Fourth, and what she remembers most from the day, she got two ice creams! The cute staff at Chick-fil-A brought us both a cone so one of us benefited from the other's tummy issues. SCORE!

Sprinkle

Once again Mama Yonchak isn't finding out the gender of her little one, so we decided to play with that for the "theme". We took a much more divide and conquer approach to hosting this time and think it turned out perfect! A dessert table was arranged so that it had mirrored displays of pink and blue treats. (I tried my hand at home made cake pops, or brownie pops in this case. They are sinful but were delicious.) We even had pink and blue lemonade to complete the presentation. {We love you littlest one already!}

A perk to hosting the Sprinkle for Adele to celebrate Y2 was that Addie got to hang out with her other aunt. Just love this little collage of them playing on her bed.
