Frozen Obsessed

Here is Anna & Elsa! These two are officially obsessed with all things Frozen. During the recent snow Addie "froze" everything and of course when it came time to ask her "Do You Want To Build A Snowman?" even I got excited.

THIS was from awhile ago and she knows the song much better now but enjoy a little performance of "Let It Go". I even know the words to every single song on the soundtrack because it is rare that anything else is being played when we are in my car together.

Talking Food

Cailin and Addie are officially movie buddies. Her mom and I mentioned going to a movie one time and these two have never forgotten it. Today we went to see "the talking food" as Addie has been referring to it as, (Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2). It was cute and like any successful children's movie there was an equal amount of humor for the adults... "Ah, there's a leek in the boat!".

I am not one to complain but after the movie we went to tell management about the cleaning crew and how they started cleaning our row and sweeping popcorn from under the little girls fee before the movie was even over. We ended up with free passes and have plans to see Frozen when it comes out in November.

New Adventure

Almost 10 years after the original release, iitttsss baaaack AND IN 3D... and today we went!

It was not the magical event I had imagined for Addie's first movie. She has seen Finding Nemo at home so I knew she liked the movie but did not realize how overwhelming everything else would be. Mostly it was just so loud. We waited out in the lobby til the previews were over plus I had the manager turn the volume down. She was mesmerized but not in a WOW sort of way. Think I'll wait awhile before trying again and not pick a 3D movie.

Staying Cool

This was a HOT weekend and as it turns out was a city record. Today's high was 104 and yesterday's was 105! Despite the heat we actually managed to do quite a lot. Friday: went to Discovery Place Kids while daddy finally finished the outdoor chalkboard and then we went to our favorite Whiskey Warehouse for dinner. Saturday: I still got in a run, Addie's Music Together class, daybed shopping, lunch out and picked & ate the first veggies out of the garden! Sunday: family walk, swung at the park, washed cars/played with the hose, hit the grocery store and had popcorn & watched a "new" Disney movie - Beauty & The Beast. (These movies are a lot scarier then I remember so have been introducing them slowly to our sensitive little sponge. Like her momma, Addie loved all the songs and so far puts up with all my dramatic singing.)

Twihards

One of the things we got to do over Thanksgiving break was go see a movie! Now to many this seems so mundane but it really is a rare treat. Jim picked our last feature film so it was my turn and off we went to see the latest in the Twilight Saga.

The books were better and nobody will be up for an Academy Award for their work in the film but in spite of the teenage girls sitting in front of us that giggled and commented throughout the entire movie I still enjoyed it. The reason I even write this post is because it seems crazy fans of this movie are pretending to be engaged so they can try on the knock-off of Bella's wedding dress - article here. You can even purchase replicas of the engagement ring and her hair comb! (Too bad I actually like this necklace.)


Maybe I am not all that far removed from these creators target audience after all?! I tore through the Harry Potter books (plus would like to have the DVD box set), then gobbled up Twilight and now am about to start reading The Hunger Games. It has been on my radar (and in my Kindle cart) since a college buddy dubbed it one of her favorites. I hate to admit it, but the movie trailer is what motivated me to finally click purchase. I just don't find time to read anymore but I have until March to read one book - I can do that!

Once I get back in the swing on things, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo is on deck. Any other suggestions? Read or watch.

Parents Gone Wild

The little miss went to Greensboro this past weekend and what did we do?!  The Kids Konsignment Sale at the Harris YMCA - shopped Friday and volunteered at it on Sunday.  Our weekend "off" would have been more exciting had my other half not gotten so sick. We did manage to get out and go to a movie - The Adjustment Bureau, which I recommend. It had just enough Bourne for the gents and romance for the ladies. :-) I cannot remember the last movie I saw in theaters but its been even longer since tickets were so cheap. I am slowly catching up with all the online coupon sites out there and picked up 2 tickets for $9!

Here is one of the consignment outfits I had to have. Hope my kids will get to experience the joy that is Camp Seafarer (& Seagull). Until then, a faux-middy and silly camp songs will have to tie us over.
