Making A Mark

In recognition for donations made to the Harris YMCA's Community Support Campaign dancers get to put their hand prints and name on the studio walls for a year. I know I work at the Y but it really is a fantastic organization with a strong commitment to bettering its direct community. As a member I used to feel guilted into donating. {Come one, we "give" monthly in the form of dues.} Now that I work there though, I get to see what all that money really does. Yes, membership fees go toward keeping the lights & heat on in the building, etc while every single dollar raised thru Community Support is put directly into action thru amazing programs like Beyond Limits, H.O.P.E., YReaders and Room in the Inn. As parents, we really hope to instill a sense of empathy and giving into Addie and think this is one of those things she will remember as she gets older. I hope so, and when she thinks back that the little light bulb will go off at the same time.

I am so lucky... love my little buddy!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Seeing Green

And few weeks ago I wasn't sure I had any good St Patrick's Day outfit, so went online and ordered this little cotton dress. Turns out I was able to put something fun together for four days!

Thursday - St Patrick's Day Party at Preschool

A Leprechaun (aka me & a work friend) came and visited her classroom while they were on the playground. I wish I could have stayed and captured their reaction but was trying so get in and out of there as quickly as possible. (Perk of working in the same building!)

Friday - "Call Me Maybe"

Friday night - Spicing things up

Saturday morning - Shamrock Shuffle
A new 5k personal record for mommy (20:30) and another "Fun Run" for Addie.

Open House day at dance today plus the big Spring Recital Schedule announcement... Sunday, June 2 at Twelve o'clock at Knight Theater! She is looking forward to showing off all her moves.

Bookshelf or Dollhouse?

This weekend was the bi-annual consignment sale at the Harris YMCA. This time I didn't leave with tons of clothes but did walk away with a few good dresses, rain boots, Hungry Hungry Hippo and THIS GOODIE! I had my eye on a different doll house but a member of the parent committee snagged it before the sale even opened. I have gone back and forth on what to "stage" it as... bookshelf or dollhouse? Addie would love a dollhouse but it would be so much more useful as a place for books and stuffed animals?! It is currently serving a duel-purpose. Books live on the top floor and her plastic figurines and stuff animals are on the other two. We shall see how it evolves. :-)
