It has been way too long Grandma! It was wonderful to see you and am so thankful you made the trip.

Log Off & Live
Sometimes we spend so much time trying to capture the moment that we don't actually enjoy living it. So thanks for the concise saying Yonchaks... yes both of you no matter where it first came from. ha!
Everyone Wins!
This weekend we headed to Greensboro to spend some much overdue time with Grandma, my dad's mom who "the boys" and "little girls" had not yet met (more of that later). Friday, as I was packing up to hit the road I just happened to notice there was a race the next morning in Greensboro. A few reasons I immediately knew I could not miss it: 1 - it was only a mile or two from my parent's house, 2 - they had a Fun Run, 3 - it looked fairly flat so could actually try and win it, and 4 - most importantly, the proceeds would be going to Backpack Beginnings! This is a friend's non-profit so I was thrilled to be able to support her, the cause and see those friends. It was the perfect storm, but in a positive way and I will be keeping my eye out for the Kirkwood 5k again next year.
RESULTS: Addie had a blast with the Fun Run, dancing to the music and even mustered up the courage to brave the crowd and play in a bounce house! She ran the fun run with great enthusiasm as well as received much enthusiasm from her cheerleaders - Jim and Mo from the sidelines and me jogging behind her.
I got a new PR on record (21:21), was the second or third female to finish the race and won my division (Females 30-39)! We both won medals.
We also both beat the women/her child who ruined Jim's video of Addie's Fun Run finish. He was so mad and then so proud! :-)

Yee-haw
Look what we bought! I tried to talk her into a brown pair with pink trim but she would hear nothing about that once she laid eyes on this pink pair with sparkles. They are certainly the new favorite accessory!

Road Warrior
I am wasting no time in supporting Addie's new found "love" of running. After signing all three of us up to Hit the Brixx today, we headed to Target where she became the PROUD owner of an official running outfit.
She only wanted to race all afternoon. I chased her around the house then she and Jim did some sprint work in the back yard. ;-) Will she be a distance girl like mama or sprinter like dad?

First Fun Run
This morning we all ran in the Greekfest 5k... just in 3 different divisions. Jim ran in the jogger division and got to experience the wide open road head start, I actually tried to hold a decent pace and my personal favorite was Addie requesting to do the Fun Run. Once she got that race bib on, she could hardly hold still waiting for it to start. She even said she wanted to get sweaty too. Haha!
Everyone get great! Jim was under 30 minutes, I kept a 7min pace but in my opinion Addie "won" with flying colors! Not only did she run the ENTIRE way, she was pumping her arms while staying totally focused on the finish line! I am not sure who was more excited and proud of her performance, her or mom & dad?! I have never had more fun at a road race and cannot wait to do it again!

Soccer Princess
Addie was so proud to show me the soccer kleats she got this past weekend and I happily obliged with her request to play! Even though we look like we are more dressed for a tea party, she did a great job! (And of course I hope she someday loves the game like her parents.)

Morning Runs
Not my bed or my husband and there is NO WAY anyone at our house would be asleep if it was this bright outside... buuut this image still spoke to me. Up before dawn, out the door before anyone else is awake and how Jim gets nervous if I am not back within a certain amount of time. Maybe I should try something like this?! Knowing my husband, an excel spreadsheet may be more appreciated. :-)
I have a love/hate relationship with my morning workouts. I love getting a good sweat in, having it crossed off my to-do list before the day even begins and the time with my workout partners helps keep me connected and sane. I hate about everything at 5:30 AM when my alarm goes off, how tired I am and how that is still not enough time to get everything in and get to work on time. Th catch is I refuse to get up any earlier while I absolutely refuse to not take that time for myself. Therefore, I am once again off to set the dreaded alarm. A true case of damned if you do and damned if you don't.
I do believe/hope I am setting a good example for my munchkin so add that to the love side of things. Additionally, Addie now loves to take walks in the jog stroller and most of the time is telling me to "run faster mommy"! That, and Teva's excitement when I put on running shoes is a big dose of motivation.
And there folks, is why I keep up with my nonsense.
